Germany's handball women narrowly missed the group victory at the World Cup, but in the closing stages they played hard and saved one point. The DHB selection came to a 27:27 (15:14) in Yamaga, Japan, in South Korea, finishing 7-3 behind the rival (8-2).
The best thrower for the team of national coach Henk Groener was circle runner Julia Behnke with seven goals. Shortly before the end, the team was still 23:27 back, but then proved morality. In the next tournament phase, Germany will face the Netherlands, Norway and Serbia.

Because South Korea is also already qualified for the main round, Germany takes at least one point into the second group stage. With what score the DHB women go into the main round, decides only in the last group duel between defending champion France and Denmark.
