A source in the European Union for Football "UEFA" announced that the decision of the Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency "Wada" to suspend the membership of the Russian Federation for a period of four years will not affect the holding of the European Cup football matches for 2020 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
"We refer you to see the WADA book, which did not touch on the ban on holding the 2020 European Championship in Russia," Interfax news agency quoted the source as saying about the possibility of holding the European Cup soccer qualifiers in 2020 in Russia.
The Executive Committee of (Wada) agency denied Russia the right to participate in international sports competitions for four years at the same time did not impose a complete ban on the participation of all Russian athletes in sports under specific conditions.
The matches of the European Cup 2020 will take place from June 12 to July 12 next year in 12 cities in Europe and Saint Petersburg will host four matches of the championship, three games in the group stage and one match for the quarter-finals.
The European Football Association announced earlier that Saint Petersburg will host the UEFA Champions League Final for 2020-2021.
