Arsenal have won the London derby at West Ham United 3-1 (1-0) in the Premier League. The Gunners had previously been unable to win nine competitive games and separated from coach Unai Emery, but under interim coach Freddie Ljungberg it was initially no better. Arsenal have now celebrated their fifth win of the season thanks to an improvement in performance in the second half thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli (60th minute), Nicolas Pépé (66th) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (69th).

It had looked after a poor performance in the first half initially after the next defeat for the Gunners. The goal from Angelo Ogbonna (38th) following a corner kick was one, but Ljungberg will have given up most of the uninspired appearance on the offensive puzzle. Arsenal had plenty of possession, but they did not reach the hosts 'goal dangerously, as Mesut Özil's cross from Aubameyang's cross was too good a header (31').

Substitute Sead Kolasinac initiated the turnaround for Martinelli. Suddenly the ball went better, Arsenal had more move to the goal and with Pépé the deciding man in his ranks. The Ivorian closed a counterattack with a shot in the left corner and a little later he put the decisive third goal to Aubameyang. Arsenal reach 22 points after 16 rounds of play and are in ninth place in the Europa League, with West Ham likely to be the 16th in the table. will be a long fight against the looming descent.
