The French Football Association announced today that national team coach Didier Deschamps extended his contract for two years to continue in his position until 2022.
"There is no disagreement over the results ... It is a logical decision," Reuters quoted Noel Le Great, president of the French Federation, as saying at a news conference.
The 51-year-old Deschamps trained France in 2012, reached the final of the European Championship 2016 and crowned the 2018 World Cup.
During his career as a midfielder, Deschamn took the armband when France won the 1998 World Cup on home soil and the 2000 European Championship.
The French Federation has assigned Deschamps to reach the semi-finals at least in the European Championship 2020.
And the lottery fell to France in a group that includes the defending champions Portugal and Germany, next to a team that will ascend from the annex of the tournament that will be held between the 12th of June and the 12th of July.
