A few hours after the 4: 0 (3: 0) against the KRC Genk and the associated reaching the round of 16 in the Champions League, the SSC Naples has separated from their coach Carlo Ancelotti. This was announced by the club via Twitter.
The 60-year-old Italian had been the two-time Italian champion since the summer of 2018. In the past season, he was with the SSC runner-up behind Juventus, currently the team is only after seventh game days in seventh place.
SSC Napoli has taken the decision to part ways with first-team coach Carlo Ancelotti.
The friendship and mutual respect between the club, President Aurelio De Laurentiis and Carlo Ancelotti remain intact.
Before the win against Genk, the team had been unable to win in nine competitive games in a row. Already in the past month, there had been dislocations in Naples, because the players had refused to participate in a training camp.
Ancelotti, who also played for FC Bayern München from 1 July 2016 to 28 September 2017, was one of only three coaches to win the Champions League three times and was the champion in Italy, England, Spain, France and Germany.
The hottest candidate for his succession was traded in the Italian media last Gennaro Gattuso. Gattuso, who became world champion in 2006, had recently coached AC Milan.
