Sky Network lost the rights to broadcast Champions League matches in Germany for the “Dazen” and “Amazon” platforms.

Sky Network CEO Carsten Schmidt told the German newspaper Bild that "after about 20 years of partnership with the European Football Association, we were unable to agree to continue cooperation in bidding procedures."

Schmidt considered that they have "a clear and responsible economic vision of sports broadcasting rights and are not prepared to exceed the already high value in which these rights have been evaluated."

Sky was unable to match the two platforms' bid for broadcast rights for three years in Germany, starting with the 2021-2022 season.

According to the newspaper, the "Dazen" platform won the rights to direct broadcast of the Champions League matches starting from the 2021-2022 season, including the final match, which will be shared with the official TV in Germany, "ZDF", while the "Amazon" platform will have the right to broadcast one game on Tuesday of each round.
