Edinburgh-SANA
Scottish Rangers Club today announced the extension of its contract with coach Stephen Gerrard for two years until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
Gerrard, who spent 17 seasons as a Liverpool player and led to the UEFA Champions League title in 2005, coached Rangers in 2018 with a four-year contract and said days ago he was close to extending the contract.
"I am happy to extend my stay with this wonderful football club," Reuters quoted Gerrard as saying in a statement.
Rangers finished second behind Celtic in the league last season and now come in the same position, two points behind their rivals after 15 rounds.
Rangers had the opportunity to claim their first title under Gerrard on Sunday, but lost 1-0 to Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final.
