Joaquin Sanchez, the Real Betis captain, has extended the club's contract until 2021.
The extremist arrived at Batis Academy at the age of 16 and became one of the most prominent Spanish in the last two decades. The captain played in the white-green uniform until 2006, when he left to play in Valencia, Malaga and Italian Fiorentina. In 2015 he returned to his youth group, where he is expected to finish his career at the end of next season, just before his 40th birthday.
The club's announcement of the contract extension reads: "His excellent football, commitment and love for the icon created a special place for him in Batis's history. His legend will continue to be written thanks to the extension of the contract."
