Four Hills Tournament: Lindvik wins New Year's jumping, violinist second

The Karl Geiger Festival on the Four Hills Tournament continues. The German ski jumper took another podium in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Only the Norwegian Lindvik was even better.

Marius Lindvik is the big winner of the New Year's Jumping in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The Norwegian relegated Karl Geiger and Poland's Dawid Kubacki to the places. The last dominant Ryoyu Kobayashi finished fourth.

The Japanese remains in the overall standings, but Geiger and Kubacki are getting closer. After five day victories on the four hill tour in a row, Kobayashi had to give up again this time.

Lindvik, the tenth of the opening competition in Oberstdorf, clearly dominated the first round. At 143.5 meters, the 20-year-old even set Simon Ammann's ten-year-old hill record.

Since the start-up was then shortened and the wind conditions also deteriorated, the other top jumpers could not reach this distance and remained significantly behind: This also applied to Geiger and Kobayashi, who jumped to ranks three and four with a width of 132 meters each. Dawid Kubacki, the third from Oberstdorf, had lined up between them and the leader.

From a German perspective, it wasn't just Geiger's result that was gratifying. Constantin Schmid, Markus Eisenbichler, Stephan Leyhe and Pius Paschke also qualified for the second round of the 30 best. Schmid finished seventh, Eisenbichler finished tenth.
