The Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs could see their contributions reduced from 150,000 to 500,000 euros, thanks to the next pension reform, according to Le Figaro on Wednesday.
In fact, the future universal pension plan provides that employees will contribute at the same rate of 28.12% up to the ceiling of 120,000 euros gross annually. Above this level of income, employees will have to save on their side in preparation for their retirement. They will pay a contribution of 2.81% which will not give them any rights but will finance solidarity measures.
Mechanically, professional clubs will take advantage of these provisions, as noted by the Institute for Social Protection (IPS) in a new shock study whose daily newspaper published the results exclusively.
"A kind of subsidy on the wage bill"
With an average salary of € 73,000 gross monthly, the players are indeed far above the ceiling provided for by the reform. With this peculiarity that their contracts are often concluded in “net-net”: that is to say that their club takes care of all the social, wage and employer charges, and taxes, so that the player perceives the agreed net compensation.
Consequently, it is therefore the clubs that will save compulsory charges beyond the ceiling, estimated between 150,000 and 500,000 euros per year and per club. "Universal retirement will provide these clubs with a sort of subsidy on the payroll," concludes Bruno Chrétien, the president of IPS. Far from the desire for social justice displayed by the promoters of the reform. "
Darmanin denies en bloc
