Amara Studmeyer signed Maccabi Tel Aviv this morning (Wednesday) until the end of the season. For a few days now, the yellows have been fumbling with the former BBC star and Hapoel Jerusalem player, but until Monday evening no money had been made. During the night, progress was made and this morning the deal officially closed.

Amara, who adopted the Hebrew name Jehoshaphat, recently played (from October 30 to mid-December) in the Chinese league in Fujian Sturgens uniform, before returning to the United States and practicing in South Florida.

Last season, as we recall, he played in the uniform of Hapoel Jerusalem and was named April's outstanding player in the league. He comes to Maccabi due to the injuries of Tariq Black and Omri Caspi, who put a heavy load on Othello Hunter, Jake Cohen and Quincy Acey in the postseason.
"I am modestly grateful for the opportunity and happy to be in Israel, the place I love, and for having the opportunity to play at the highest level in Europe - this is a dream come true," Amara Studmeyer told the club's official site after signing.

"We are very pleased that Amara Stodmeyer will be wearing the 'heavy' jersey of Maccabi Tel Aviv," commented coach Janis Spropoulos after Stodmaier's signature. "He deserves to help his new friends and team in the Israeli league and Euroleague. I would like to congratulate him on joining our team and the Maccabi family. I also want to thank the owners for the addition, one more during the season, they give us everything needed for the team's success."
