The Egyptian handball team was crowned the champion of the 23rd edition of the African Handball Cup of Nations, hijacking the ticket to the Tokyo Olympics 2020 after winning the final match against its Tunisian national team 27-23.
Egypt raised its score for the seventh title in its history to become the second most crowned team in the championship historically and in partnership with Algeria and behind Tunisia, which holds the ten titles.
This is the fifth crowning of seven for Egypt at the expense of Tunisia in the final match, while it is the first time that Egypt beat Tunisia in the capital Tunis.
