Manchester City lost 1-0 to Manchester United but held together to reach the English Football League Cup final by winning 3-2 in the two semi-final matches to set a date with Aston Villa at Wembley.
Nemanja Matic scored the only game goal in the 35th minute to win United at Etihad Stadium, but the midfielder was sent off later, and that goal was not enough to overturn the result of the semi-final first leg match that ended 3-1 in favor of City at Old Trafford.
The referee sent off the Serbian player after receiving the second warning 15 minutes before the end, and United could not add the second goal that would have led the confrontation to the penalty shootout.
The final will be held on the first of March, as City seeks to win the title for the third year in a row and the fourth time in the last five seasons.
