The Sonnenbichl ski center now offers perfect slopes. This is made possible by a satellite-controlled snow depth measurement system.

Bad Wiessee - It is thanks to the Snow Sports Promotion Association in the Tegernsee Valley that the Sonnenbichl above Bad Wiessee was able to offer perfect conditions for alpine sports shortly after the turn of the year. The snow groomer with which the slope is groomed and groomed now has a GPS system that shows the snow depth. This makes it possible to precisely distribute the white gold pre-produced by the snow cannons.

Digitized Sonnenbichl with drone

Dominik Rebensburg, technical manager at the Audi ski center, clearly explained the use. "The slope was flown and digitized with a drone in the autumn," explains the son of Wolfgang Rebensburg, the managing director of Tegernseer Tal Schneesport GmbH. A basis for the satellite and snow depth measurement system of the snow groomer to be able to communicate. Different colors on the display in the driver's cab indicate where the snow should be pushed. For "red" and a maximum of 40 centimeters, touch up. "Green" means optimal and "blue" at more than 60 centimeters means pushing or distributing. "This way, machine-made snow can be saved and used optimally," explains Wolfgang Rebensburg. In times of increased environmental awareness and saving resources, it is a sensible investment.

Optimal conditions for everyone

Not only the around 140 young talents of the valley clubs benefit from the optimized conditions, but everyone who has been using the slope on Sonnenbichl since January 7th. A day on which holidaymakers strolled through the streets in Bad Wiessee when the sun was shining. "An investment in the lower five-digit range was necessary," says Wolfgang Rebensburg. "But it paid for itself at the end of the season at the latest." Perfect slope management and precise snow depth measurement have found their way into Sonnenbichl.
