District - Dear readers, you have the choice again: Who are your athletes of the year 2019 in the district of Miesbach? Under the patronage of District Administrator Wolfgang Rzehak, readers of the local newspaper can vote for the 35th time this year.

Choose from five candidates each

Here we present five women and five men, five young athletes and five teams. The list is in alphabetical order. The division into adults and youngsters is based on the league or class in which the athletes achieved their successes in 2019 - so not necessarily based on age.

When it comes to choosing an athlete, it is not just sporting success that counts

On the one hand, the election is about the successes in the 2019 calendar year. But commitment, charisma and sympathy also play an important role. Voting ends on Friday, January 31, 2020.

The award winners are traditionally honored as part of a large festive evening. This year it will take place at our partner, the Hotel Bussi Baby in Bad Wiessee. The Autohaus Steingraber from Holzkirchen supports us again.

Natalie Geisenberger wins almost everything there is to win again. The luge athlete is the first woman to win the overall World Cup for the seventh time. In addition, the 31-year-old Miesbacher becomes individual and sprint world champion.

Ulrike Giesa's comeback of the year. After a long period of international abstinence, the thrower starts from SF Föching at the European Senior Championships - and wins silver. The 35-year-old is in eleventh place in the German leaderboard.

It was not necessarily the Vanessa Hinz season. In the overall biathlon World Cup, the Schliersee ranks 27th with a podium finish, but is still among the best in the world. At the World Cup, she and the team won silver in the mixed relay.

Viktoria Rebensburg describes her silver medal in the giant slalom at the World Ski Championships in Åre as the greatest success of her career. The Kreutherin was fourth in the overall World Cup as well as in the discipline ratings giant slalom and Super-G.

German vice champion in snowboard cross is Celia Trinkl . And that as a young driver for adults. This is one of the reasons why the Waakirchner is nominated for the Winter Youth Olympic Games in January 2020.

Team of the year 2019
