Berlin (dpa) - The Bundesliga teams Bayer Leverkusen and Union Berlin have moved into the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup. Leverkusen won 2-1 (0-0) against second division VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday, Union prevailed 1-0 (0-0) in regional league team SC Verl.
VfB goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow put the hosts in the lead in Leverkusen, and in the 71st minute he kicked the ball into his own goal after a corner. Lucas Alario (83.) increased, Silas Wamangituka (85.) scored the goal. Robert Andrich (86.) scored for Union at the outsider in Verl.
Eintracht Frankfurt, Fortuna Düsseldorf, FC Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen had already reached the round of eight on Tuesday. The co-favorites Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig were eliminated. The quarter-finals will be drawn next Sunday (6 p.m. / ARD), the games will be played on March 3rd and 4th.
