Berlin (dpa) - The FSV Mainz 05 is the winner of the relegation battle in the Bundesliga. The Tables-15. won 3: 1 (1: 0) at Hertha BSC and reduced the deficit to Berlin to two points.
Fortuna Dusseldorf with a 1-1 (1-0) at VfL Wolfsburg and the bottom of SC Paderborn with a 1-1 (0-0) at FC Schalke 04 did not go beyond a draw. Werder Bremen, which slipped behind Düsseldorf in 17th place, lost 0-2 (0-0) to Union Berlin. In the middle of the table, SC Freiburg won 1-0 (1-0) against TSG Hoffenheim.
