The so far winless Mighty Dogs conquer harmless ice pirates

Dorfen / Schweinfurt - With a 1: 6 (0: 1, 1: 2, 0: 3) defeat in the return leg of the relegation round on Sunday evening at ERV Schweinfurt, the ESC-Dorfen missed the chance of early relegation. Despite an intermediate high in the second third, the ice pirates failed to turn the game around.

With so far zero points after five games, the Franks were considerably under pressure. They started out with a correspondingly punchy force, forcing the ice pirates to do intensive defensive work again and again. With the backing of their safe goalie Andi Tanzer, the Isenstadters even survived a two-fold outnumber from the 8th minute after Tobias Fengler and Andi Attenberger successively walked onto the penalty bench. The Mighty Dogs then used another two-minute penalty from defender Johannes Kroner through their American Jeffrey Murray after the preliminary work of Jan Kouba and Lucas Kleider for the 1-0 lead (16.). When the Maistädter were outnumbered for the first time (two minutes for Kevin Marquardt), the ice pirates had the best chances for Sebastian Rosenkranz (the disc stayed a few centimeters in front of the ERV gate) and Christoph Lönnig to compensate.

After the short break lead, the hosts immediately put up another power play (Michael Numberger pushed the penalty bench) by defender Andreas Kleider to 2: 0. In this second third, however, the people of Isenstadt got better into the game. Timo Borrmann promptly scored the connection goal. Florian Mayer and Lukas Miculka had put the scorer in the shooting position. Now the experienced Schweinfurt goalie Philipp Schnierstein was more busy than he liked. On the other hand, Tanzer also thwarted the possible 3: 1 (37th) for the Mighty Dogs with a brilliant parade. The ice pirates were on the trigger in the final phase of this third. Every minute, however, Lukas Miculka, Tomas Vrba, Andi Attenberger and Borrmann failed on Schnierstein, or they missed the target. So came a justified penalty, which Murray converted to 3-1, as if out of the blue.

Although the Dorfenern still had a few bullet points in the final third, after 4: 1 the hosts were over by Jan Kouba. Oleg Seibel (55.) and Sermjon Bär made the Dorfener Schlappe really solid with their goals.
