Sochi (dpa) - The German double-seaters, who are spoiled for success, had to be content with a bronze medal in the sprint competition at the first decision of the World Sledding Championship in Sochi.
The overall World Cup runners-up Tobias Wendl / Tobias Arlt (Berchtesgaden / Königssee) came in third place on the Olympiabahn from 2014 behind the new world champions Aleksander Denisew / Wladislaw Antonow (Russia) and the Italians Emanuel Rieder / Simon Kainzwaldner.
The defending champions Toni Eggert / Sascha Benecken (Ilsenburg / Suhl) came fourth. The Winterberger duo Robin Geueke / David Gamm came in twelfth. Sprint competitions have been part of the World Cup program since 2016.
