Valdet Rama wore the lion jersey for two years and had two happy ends in it. Now there is a reunion as Meppener. In the interview, the Albanian talks about a moving time.

  • The next sixty-six opponent SV Meppen plays Valdet Rama, an ex-lion.
  • The Albanian experienced grueling times with two happy ends.
  • In the meantime, he even earned his money in China .

Munich - The away game of TSV 1860 at SV Meppen (Saturday, from 2 p.m. here in the live ticker) - it will also be a reunion with Valdet Rama (32). From 2014 to 2016, the ex-international Albania (15 appearances) stormed with the lions. What he thinks about his time in Giesing and how he sees the lions today - it's in the interview.

Valdet, what's the first thing that hits your head when you say sixty?

Rama: The moment when Kai (Bülow) pushed the post rebound against Kiel over the line ( the lions prevailed in 2015 in the second division relegation, red. ). This relief, this cheering explosion in the arena - I will not forget the evening in my life.

The shot came from you that made the happy ending possible.

Rama: I saw the gap, the rest went automatically. When I think about it again, I still get goosebumps ( laughs ).

You haven't seen too many positive things in 1860 ...

Rama: That's right. Basically, it was this rescue against Kiel - and then again the happy ending next season when we won the last three games with Daniel Bierofka . I have to mention the support of the fans, it was exceptional. Otherwise there was a lot of unrest. But that's part of 1860.

You couldn't agree on a new contract. Her next stop was Würzburg, which had risen to the second division. What went wrong there?

Rama: We played a great first half of the season, but then we got into a negative run that we couldn't stop.

Her next stop was Yanbian Funde , a Chinese second division team ...

Rama: Because of the descent with Würzburg , I was without a contract. Yanbian was the first offer to come. I thought I would try it now. It was okay in the beginning, but then there was a change of coach and the new one relied on other foreigners - only three were allowed to play. After a year we ended it. I also wanted to go back to Germany to my family, to my two little daughters.

You paused most of 2018. What kept you going?

Rama: Torsten Fröhling was very important. We live in Hagen - as a Schalke II coach, he made it possible for me to keep fit in Gelsenkirchen. At the end of the year I had the opportunity to switch to FK Kukesi in Albania for six months. And then there were requests from the third division. Meppen made the most effort.

With Meppen there are eleven clubs in 15 years. Is it enough to be a migratory bird?

Rama: ( laughs ) Yeah, I've had enough of it for now. Meppen was a good decision, it is a family club with real quality in the team. I feel good here.

Who from 1860 are you in contact with?

Rama: There are only Sascha (Mölders) and Felix (Weber) left from my time. There is no great contact, but I look forward to seeing the boys on Saturday. We have to be careful on Sascha, the old boy really has a run.

Interview: Ludwig Krammer

When looking for an alternative stadium, the Löwen rejection is rejection. Coach Michael Köllner is spoiled for choice against Meppen. In a SWR report, the station underwent an embarrassing name breakdown - which caused more than just excitement in the lion camp.
