2020-02-16T10:12:00.890Z

THE SCAN SPORT - Hackers seized the official account of FC Barcelona to announce the return of the Brazilian striker and alert the Spanish club to the flaws in its IT security.

In the minutes after FC Barcelona's victory against Getafe (2-1) in the league on Saturday, the followers of the Catalan club saw a striking announcement appear on their smartphone screens. A series of tweets on the different versions of the Spanish club's accounts revealed Neymar's return to Spain. A photomontage notably showed the Brazilian striker with the 2019-2020 version team jersey. The image was topped by two question marks.

Another message required the departure of the current president Josep Maria Bartomeu, signed by a group calling themselves OurMine. "Hello, we are OurMine. This is the second time, the level of IT security has improved but is still not the best. To improve the security of your accounts, contact us ”, even sent the hackers to the Spanish leaders.

In 2014, the Syrian Electronic Army also hacked Twitter accounts

FC Barcelona quickly erased the messages before addressing its followers on social networks to explain this second intrusion of OurMine on its accounts. "The FC Barcelona Twitter accounts were hacked, which is why messages from outside the club appeared, before being flagged and deleted," reacted the club which apologized to the fans by guaranteeing that it "will conduct a cybersecurity audit and examine all protocols and links with third-party tools, in order to avoid such incidents."

FC Barcelona will conduct a cybersecurity audit and will review all protocols and links with third party tools, in order to avoid such incidents and to guarantee the best service to our members and fans. We apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused.

In 2014, Barça had been hacked by another group of activists who had condemned the existing links between sponsor Qatar and the team. “Dear management of FC Barcelona. Do not let the money of the Qataris finance you, it is covered with blood and assassinations ”, had warned a group posing as the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA).
