Mannheim (dpa) - The Berlin Volleys have won the German Volleyball Cup for the fifth time.
The champions from the capital prevailed in a one-sided final 3: 0 (25:12, 25:18, 25:22) against outsiders SWD powervolleys Düren. In front of 10,689 spectators in the Mannheim SAP Arena, the Berliners gave a highly concentrated performance and won the trophy for the first time since 2016.
The team of the French coach Cédric Énard was particularly convincing in the acceptance. Düren, on the other hand, was unable to put the favorites under pressure at their own serve. The outsider fought back and led in the third set with 16:14, but the Volleys immediately struck back with four points in a row. The Berliners chose the successor of the dethroned VfB Friedrichshafen with the never-endangered cup victory.
