Hundreds of millions of dollars lost to NBA in China

LE SCAN SPORT - The controversy surrounding the support of general manager of the Houston Rockets Daryl Morey in Hong Kong, will cause colossal revenue losses for the NBA in China.

The NBA is expected to record a loss of "several hundred million dollars" in China following the controversy around Hong Kong, said its boss, Adam Silver, at a press conference on Saturday.

In October, just before two league teams played two warm-up matches in China, Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey posted a tweet in support of the pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong.

China reacted immediately, with several major companies in the country brutally ending their business ties with the NBA. The public channel CCTV has also stopped broadcasting games from the North American basketball league and has not resumed since.

"The magnitude of the shortfall will be in the hundreds of millions of dollars, probably less than 400 million," said Adam Silver, operational manager of the NBA mandated by the team owners, on the sidelines of the weekend of All -Star Galen in Chicago. "It is significant, I will not say the contrary," he continued, "but I do not have the feeling that our activity there has suffered permanent damage." The Commissioner, his official title, said he expected CCTV to resume broadcasting NBA games, without specifying when.
