Münster (dpa) - football professional Leroy Kwadwo has called for even more determined action by all involved after the racist insults against him.
"Football has a lot of power. We should all move closer together, say it can't go on like this, then we won't play," said the 23-year-old Würzburger Kickers professional in ZDF's "Current Sports Studio" when asked if the game was abandoned could be an appropriate response.
Kwadwo was insulted by a spectator with monkey noises in Friday's third division game at Preussen Münster (0-0). Other viewers responded with "Nazis out" calls and pointed to the man so that he could be taken into police custody. The response was "almost a satisfaction" for him, said Kwadwo. "Thanks again to the fans of Prussia, who acted quickly and well there," added the footballer with Ghanaian roots.
After the insults, he was "pissed off, puzzled and disappointed". "It is the first time that this has happened to me. It was an experience that cannot be put into words that you do not want to be expected of," said Kwadwo.
