Ugandan runner Joshua Cheptegi broke the world record in the five-kilometer race in Monaco today, 27 seconds behind the Kenyan lead Rexx Kiproto.
Reuters reported that world champion Chiptigi crossed the 10,000 meters, finishing in the race after 12 minutes and 51 seconds, breaking his record in Valencia, Spain, last month.
Meanwhile, Frenchman Jimmy Gressier occupied second place in Monaco, recording 13 minutes and 18 seconds, breaking the previous European record of 13 minutes and 29 seconds, which Julian Vanders achieved in the same race last year.
