At the end of the season, the ESC Holzkirchen is really going up. The Holzkirchner secured a total of four points against the leaders of the district league group 2, the EHC Waldkraiburg.
After the convincing appearance last week, when the ESC was only defeated in the penalty shootout, the team led by coach Markus Nachtmann went one step further: The Holzkirchner team beat the hosts 3: 4. For Waldkraiburg it was only the second defeat of the season. The EHC got off to a better start with the 1-0 (2nd). At the beginning of the second third, Holzkirchen managed to equalize through Michael Kristic. Just a minute later, Samuel Matha put the guests in the lead.
"The boys were highly motivated and did exactly what was planned," explains ESC department head Jürgen Jockisch. That means: Holzkirchen was on the opponent, pressed and thus disrupted his game flow.
But it remained a head-to-head race. With 2: 2 it went into the final third. Here, the ESC went a step further: Benedikt Danner increased to 3: 2 before Stefan Kirschbauer increased to 4: 2. In the final phase, Waldkraiburg took the goalkeeper off the ice, while Holzkirchen served a penalty. With this double surplus of field players, the EHC managed the 3: 4 - there was nothing more against a strongly fighting ESC.
"If we had carried out our performances like against Waldkraiburg and Schliersee the whole season, then there would definitely have been more," Jockisch states. “But the motivation was always high for us, and the mix of established and young players works well. This season was a phase of discovery. "
It is not yet clear what will happen next. There are still two weeks of training to be able to use the ice in the stadium. It will be seen in the next few weeks whether the squad and coaching staff Markus Nachtmann and Helmut Nusser will stay.
