Raleigh (dpa) - The German international Leon Draisaitl led the Edmonton Oilers with another brilliant performance to a victory in the North American professional ice hockey league NHL.
Draisaitl prepared the winning goal of Josh Archibald in extra time in the 4: 3 (1: 1, 2: 1, 0: 1) of the Carolina Hurricanes. Previously, the 24-year-old striker had scored the 1-1 draw himself and hung up the 2-2 goal by Kailer Yamamoto. With the Assist, Draisaitl reached the mark of 60 goal assists in one season for the first time in his NHL career.
With the three goal participations, Draisaitl also continues to stand out in the NHL scorer classification. With 95 points, he already leads 13 points ahead of David Pastrnak from the Boston Bruins. No "German has won the" Art Ross Trophy "for the NHL player with the best points.
Edmonton moved to the top of the Pacific Division with the win - the third in four games without superstar Connor McDavid - but is only five points ahead of a non-playoff spot in the balanced Western Conference.
The Oilers benefited from the surprising 1: 5 (0: 2, 1: 1, 0: 2) defeat of the Vancouver Canucks against Anaheim Ducks with German international Korbinian Holzer. Dominik Kahun of the Pittsburgh Penguins is training with the team again four weeks after suffering a concussion, but was not yet on the ice again in the 5: 1 (2: 1, 3: 0, 0: 0) against the Detroit Red Wings.
