Peißenberg - Even before the game at the "ice hogs" of the EC Pfaffenhofen, things didn't go well for the Peißenberg "ice hackers". Several players had to pass due to injury or illness. Martin Lidl, Michael Glattenbacher, Florian Höfler, Moritz Birkner and Shamir Baloch were missing. Various U-20 players (Luka Bucher, Max Willberger, Andreas Kreutterer) had to move up. And then the coach also dropped out: Simon Mooslechner was sick and could not ride. The co-trainer Martin Drexler, who recently joined the team, was challenged as chief of the gang. All of this made it even more difficult for the Peißenberger - and that with an opponent who is currently flying high. The away game on Friday evening was promptly lost 1: 2 (0: 1, 0: 1, 1: 0).
In the fight for a pre-play-off place, TSV spokesman Andreas Schugg now sees ESC Geretsried as the main competitor. Both have a remote duel in the remaining games. The first place in the relegation round has already been taken, "Pfaffenhofen should continue like this," said Schugg. For the Peißenberg “only victories count”, Schugg is convinced.
TSV Peißenberg: goals against each third of the start
As in the previous games, the Pfaffenhofeners could rely on their three top scorers. Nick Endress, John Lawrence and Jake Fardoe were involved in both goals. In the 1-0 (4th) Fardoe used a gap in the "ice chopper" defense; Endress was alone in the hallway and overcame TSV goalkeeper Korbinian Sertl. At 2-0 (22nd) it was Lawrence who decisively deflected the target brought by Fardoe towards the goal.
As far as the playful and combative performance of the "ice hackers" is concerned, "you cannot blame the team," said Schugg. "Maybe that's why the defeat weighs even more." Before the first goal, the Peißenbergers had made a powerful impression. Then they went on with an offensive focus. However, the team found it “very difficult to catch up,” said Schugg. There was also a lot of bad luck: Valentin Hörndl hit the post three times in the middle section, but the puck never landed on the net.
In the final section, the "ice hackers" continued to run. Dominik Ebentheuer reduced to 1: 2 (47th), but as a result the "ice hogs" did not allow any more goals. In the end, the Pfaffenhofeners were happy about the "good performance", as reported on their Facebook page, and the fourth victory in a row.
