After the compulsory victory at EHC Klostersee on Friday at the home game against ERC Sonthofen, TEV Miesbach missed out on securing additional bonus points against the league leaders. In a balanced encounter, the guests won narrowly, but not undeservedly 4: 5.
Thus, the district dwellers in the table of the gearing round slipped to fifth place in the table. Next Friday, a real final for home rights in the quarter-finals is waiting in Erding.
"Sonthofen was a very strong opponent - that's certainly the top team in this round," says TEV trainer Peter Kathan. “We were weak as substitutes, but we did well against it. The team showed 1: 4 character and came back. “So he was a little disappointed that his team had not scored. "The performance was good, but we have to make even better use of our chances."
The Miesbachers had to do without Beppo Frank, Andreas Nowak, Franz Mangold, Nico Fissekis and Thomas Amann again. Nevertheless, the TEV was able to make the game balanced from the start. The individual class of the guests was then shown in the first two hits. While the puck fell on the crossbar at the first Miesbacher Powerplay and crashed back into the field, the guests used their majority to take the 1-0 break.
Sonthofen was more dominant in the second section. The 0: 2 fell when the Miesbacher stood on the ice with one more man through a strong individual campaign. The 1: 2 was curious. Johannes Bacher refueled, pulled off and dusted himself off after the rebound. In the stadium you could clearly hear the sound of a metal bar at the gate. All Miesbach players jumped up and cheered the connection goal, but the main referee let go and promptly scored the guests in return for the supposed 0: 3. After consultation with his linesmen, the referee gave the Miesbacher Tor and it was exciting again at the score of 1: 2.
In the final third, the preliminary decision seemed to have been made when the ERC scored 3-1 after losing a target in their own Miesbach area. But the TEV came back again. Six minutes before the end, Sonthofen increased to 4: 1, but then Thomas Schenkel scored back to 2: 4. And a few seconds later Felix Feuerreiter netted 3: 4. All three hits fell within 60 seconds.
Already two and a half minutes before the end, Kathan put everything on one card and took goalkeeper Anian Geratsdorfer off the ice in favor of a sixth outfield player. Despite good chances, the equalizer did not want to fall, and Sonthofen made it clear with the Empty Net to 3: 5. The 4: 5 from Max Hüsken two seconds before the end was only cosmetic results.
“We now have to score in all three remaining games. Then we have a good starting position for the playoffs, ”says Kathan. “Best-of-three is damn dangerous. We have to be right on point. It has now been noticed that some regular players have been missing. But some will come back next week. ”
