For a long time, EA Schongau looked safe in the game against ESC Dorfen. But then she gambled away the lead to win in the end.
Schongau - Some performances by EA Schongau caused gray hair for those responsible this season. The course of the game at home in the Bayernliga relegation round against ESC Dorfen even accelerated the aging process. "If this continues, I'll be 100 years old at the end of the season," said EAS boss Franz Andergassen. The “mammoths” looked like the sure winners at first. Then they gave a two-goal lead in the last few minutes of the game and saved themselves with one goal seconds before the end of the game in extra time, which they won 6: 5.
"We simply gave away a lot of cheap gates, but also showed a brutal morale," said EAS coach Andreas Leschinger after the emotional change. For EAS, it was the first of five finals to escape the playdowns. "Perhaps the message that Milan Kopecky wrote to the team from the hospital made up the little bit," said EAS team manager Martin Resch.
It started in the first third with plenty of goals
The game started very lively and rich in goals. After Ronald Dvonc's (5th) lead goal Timo Borrmann equalized half a minute later. Just eleven seconds later, Tobias Findl (5th) shot the Schongauer in front again. As a result, the "mammoths" survived two outnumbered situations with a little luck. Hardly again, the committed Dvonc (18th) increased to 3: 1. The cheers among the EAS fans hadn't died down yet, when Tobias Turner started with a bad capital pass in his own third to help Dorfens Sandro Schröpfer (18). "Everyone can have a bad day", Leschinger commented on the unfortunate evening of his captain.
In the middle section, Schongau determined the game without capitalizing on it. Three overpayment situations also brought nothing. So Dorfen became stronger again. Daniel Blankenburg in the EAS box destroyed good opportunities of the ESC. At the end of the third, however, the Schongauer took command again. Richard Schratt (38.) threw himself into a shot and steered the puck into the goal 4: 2.

In the final section, the guests pushed for the connection goal. Lucas Miculka (44th) finally achieved that with a solo outnumbered over the entire ice surface. As a result, the home side's fifth goal was in the air several times. The bad exploitation of opportunities by the Schongauer, who could not do anything even with a double overpower, should take revenge. In the highly dramatic final phase, Andreas Attenberger (58.) and Florian Ullmann (59.) put the guests in the lead for the first time with a double strike. Leschinger then took his keeper off the ice. That paid off. Schratt completed a remarkable attack by the EAS with a 5: 5 extension 20 seconds before the siren. The “Mammuts” needed 20 seconds in overtime until Jonas Lautenbacher scored the acclaimed winning goal.
After the derby win against TSV Peißenberg, it was the second win in a row for EAS.
