The Bayernliga relegation round is even narrower than generally assumed. And now the ESC Dorfen has to shake after a one-point weekend.
Dorfen - Actually it seemed as if the clubs from Schweinfurt and Schongau should make the descent among themselves. They graced the end of the table after the end of the main round and limped in the relegation round after five games with zero points. Before the transfer period ended, however, they strengthened again. This was not only felt by the ESC Dorfen at the 1: 6 drop in Franconia, but most recently also at the mammoths in Schongau.
"Before this game we would have been happy to pick up a point in Schongau, but unfortunately we gave away two points afterwards," said the tenor of ESC trainer Randy Neal. "In the first third we didn't really get into the game and lagged behind, but three or four struck players shouldn't have played." In the second third, the better chances were left, so that the 4: 2 was just three minutes before the next one Pause flattered the hosts. In the last third, his people had finally played with passion.
Even if the victory of the ESC was within reach with two quick goals in the final minutes, and the Schongau equalizer only fell 20 seconds before the end of the game, his boys would have delivered a fiercely strong performance, summarized Neal.
EAS coach Andi Leschinger admitted that Dorfen had more chances in goal in the second third, but his team showed great morale after the threat of defeat in the final minutes and saved two points with a top performance in extra time.
In the home game against leaders Pfaffenhofen, the ice pirates would have had to fit everything to be successful. This was not the case, however, because the hosts did not take advantage of some good opportunities and, on the other hand, lacked the necessary discipline. Dorfen had the first ten minutes under full control. ESC coach Neal criticized some stupid penalties. So top scorer Lukas Miculka was provoked, also put up with main referee Ulpi Sicorschi, which resulted in 2 + 2 + 10 minutes. Many ESC fans were upset that the referee only blamed the Czechs for the short, tangible argument with Jake Fardoe - who had started the fistfighting - while the candidate went unpunished.
And there was also a scandal at the gang: A player of the Icehogs verbally insulted the helpers of the Dorfener BRK in the injury of ECP goalkeeper Patrick Weiner, which was forwarded to the association for further initiation.
Anyway: Dorfen (11 points) is in third place with two games more Schweinfurt (7) and Schongau (5) in the neck, these two teams still playing against each other. So it can get tight in the relegation battle.
