Antholz (dpa) - Vanessa Hinz won the second medal for the German biathletes at the World Cup in Antholz, Italy.
The 27-year-old from Schliersee only had to give up Dorothea Wierer from Italy on Tuesday and secured silver. At the finish line, the Bavarian missed pursuing world champion Wierer (2 mistakes) after just 15 kilometers (2 mistakes), who won her second title at home.
Hinz, who had won three times World Cup gold and one silver with the German relay teams in the past, only made a mistake on the last shooting. Hinz had a lead of 13.6 seconds in South Tyrol ahead of sprint world champion Marte Olsbu Roiseland (2) from Norway on bronze.
The men's singles will continue in the South Tyrol Arena on Wednesday. Sprint Olympic champion Arnd Peiffer won the 20-kilometer race at the World Championships in Östersund last year.
