Manchester (dpa) - Star coach Pep Guardiola wants to fulfill his contract with the English football champions Manchester City despite the European Cup ban for the next two seasons.
"Why should I go? I said I love this club, that I want to be here - why should I go? No matter what happens - I'll be here next season," said the 49-year-old Spaniard after the 2: 0 (1: 0) of the Citizens against West Ham United at Sky Sports.
The European Football Union last Friday imposed the sanction, which also includes a fine of 30 million euros, for serious violations of financial fair play. The club, Real Madrid's top-16 opponents in the current season, immediately announced they were going to the Cas International Sports Court to challenge the ban.
The former Bayern coach Guardiola's contract in Manchester runs until 2021. "If they don't fire me, I'll stay 100 percent. Now more than ever," said the former world-class player. "I want to stay."
