Türkgücü is about to advance to the 3rd division. The stadium question is problematic. Three clubs cannot play in the Grünwald stadium. Rainer Koch has now confirmed this.

In terms of sport, everything is going according to plan at the regional league leader Türkgücü Munich. The lead over the worst pursuer from Schweinfurt is already eight points with twelve games remaining. In winter, Emre Güral and Sercan Sararer strengthened their profile once again. Hardly anyone doubts that the team of coach Reiner Maurer will be able to climb for the third time in a row. But where should the team around Captain Marco Holz play his home games in the coming season?

Bottleneck in the Grünwald stadium

In the second half of the Regionalliga Bayern, the league leader will complete the five remaining home appearances at the Grünwald stadium. In the coming season, Türkgücü Munich, TSV 1860 Munich and the amateurs of FC Bayern Munich, three clubs in the 3rd league are expected to meet at Giesings Heights. A scenario unthinkable according to DFB director Heike Ullrich: “More than two third division teams in a stadium are hardly feasible, and it makes no sense for the clubs concerned. The 3rd league is a professional league and is associated with fixed requirements in terms of organization, marketing and security aspects. As a league sponsor - also in the interests of the fans and our partners - we have to guarantee clearly structured processes and smooth game play within the league.

A few days ago, a remarkable interview by Türkgücüs President, Hasan Kivran, made the rounds in the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”. In this, the Türkgücü head declared that the clubs are checking whether they could possibly play the home games in the third division in the west of the republic. “We would probably have more viewers there because there would be more derbies. I know we are disturbing in Munich, ”said Kivran.

Like KFC Uerdingen: A team must dodge

The club had chosen North Rhine-Westphalia as the goal. The DFB reacted promptly and gave the project a rejection: “Such a move from Türkgücü Munich to North Rhine-Westphalia, for example, is not possible. The regulations do mean that exceptions can be approved by the 3rd League Committee. Here, however, a spatial proximity to the seat of the club must be guaranteed, ”explained Ullrich.

A precedent in the 3rd division is the KFC Uerdingen. Since the local Grotenburg in Krefeld is not suitable for the third division, the club moved to Duisburg last season. This season, the team of world champion Kevin Großkreutz is playing its home games in Düsseldorf. The difference to Türkgücü: The distance between Düsseldorf and Krefeld is 18 kilometers, the distance from Munich to Düsseldorf is 612 kilometers.

"Bavarian clubs have to play in Bavaria"

BFV President Dr. Rainer Koch takes a clear stance on the topic: "To put it unequivocally and clearly: The promoted to the 3rd league from the Regionalliga Bayern is a Bavarian club, which therefore also has to play in Bavaria. Dodging to North Rhine-Westphalia is out of the question. I already explained and clarified this to President Hasan Kivran, whom I personally appreciate very much and whose performance is impressive for the club. ”

A quick solution must be found. To do this, all parties have to sit down at a table: “Türkgücü Munich is in a difficult situation if their promotion is successful this season due to the lack of their own stadium. Three teams in the Grünwald stadium cannot be made. It is therefore necessary to look for a solution together with the city, TSV 1860 and FC Bayern and also with my support. ”

Memories of SV Pullach are awakened

There were plenty of examples that teams had to forego promotion to a higher division due to the lack of framework conditions. The most recent case relates to the league leader of the Regionalliga West, SV Rödinghausen. The latter announced last week, even in the event of a sporting promotion, to start the upcoming season again in the Regionalliga West: "We checked the requirements of the DFB down to the last detail, calculated, discussed and came to the decision: we will be the license for the league 3 do not apply. ”, Rödingshausen Managing Director Alexander Müller said in a press release.

In the Bayernliga Süd, the SV Pullach even refrained from promotion to the fourth-class regional league of Bavaria four times in a row between 2015 and 2018. The ravens tried in vain to be allowed to play in the Grünwald stadium. Since there was no suitable venue or promise from another club in the surrounding area, the SVP still plays in the Bayernliga.
