"This is what we focus on in preparation," emphasizes Schmid. "We conceded too many goals in the first half of the season." 33 to be exact. Only two clubs - bottom of the table Egling-Straßlach (44) and SV Polling (35) - often had to get the ball out of the goal net. So improvement is urgently desired. "Stand stable and then switch quickly" is the TSV's Schmid plan for the second part of the season.
Squad gets more depth
Andreas Knoll and Carlos da Silva Cunha are finally getting involved in this endeavor. For various reasons, both midfield players were hardly available at all in the first half of the season. "Carlos became a father and Andi struggled with a protracted heel injury," explains Schmid. Two returnees with no exit.
In the first weeks of training, the coach also takes a closer look at the younger ones in the squad. Moritz Hofmann, Christoph Sailer, Emilio Cabrera and Luca Tropea can finally train more regularly and should approach the TSV district league squad. "So far, all four have made a very good impression." The coach is pleased. First, it stirs up competition and second, it gives his squad "more depth".
Training camp in South Tyrol
So that the team grows not only quantitatively but also qualitatively, Schmid misses the finishing touch in the training camp. The TSV rents in Latsch (South Tyrol) for four days. “The main focus here is on playful aspects.” Because although the focus in the units so far has been on defensive work, the Murnauers don't want to cling, of course. The system of compact defense and playful attacking football should take hold until the spring kick-off. That is also necessary. Because the TSV can expect a hot dance right from the start: it goes to the derby in Uffing. No problem for Schmid. On the contrary: "We have to be there immediately, I see it positively."
