Werner punishes the Spurs
Leipzig's lethal weapon struck again. Scorer three times during the group stage, Timo Werner scored the only goal of the match, on a penalty kick transformed with composure at the start of the second period. The German international, omnipresent in the game, wandered on the front of the attack and hurt very much the London defense. Author of a superb inspiration on the opportunity missed by Schick after the hour of play.
Leipzig had wings
Arranged in 3-4-3, Leipzig perfectly spread the game on the wings. The two pistons had a big game. Dangerous to enter, Angelino reigned to the left. His incessant climbs and his understanding with Werner have hurt Tottenham very much. And on the right side, Nordi Mukiele also shone. Very solid (80% of duels won) and enterprising throughout the match. The former Montpellier player has made enormous progress since leaving the Bundesliga.
Two inspired guards
Clearly domineering, Leipzig was nevertheless saved several times by the interventions of Peter Gulacsi. The Hungarian goalkeeper notably had to take the big game to repel a free kick from Lo Celso on his post in the second half. Unlike his counterpart, Hugo Lloris has failed to keep his clean sheet. But the captain of Spurs has nothing to reproach himself for. Without his interventions before Angelino, Werner or Schick, Tottenham could have conceded a larger setback.
