TSV Penzberg played a good role in the Bavarian cross-country championship. Nick Jäger was overjoyed at the finish line, who recently struggled with his form.

Buttenwiesen - “A huge stone fell from my heart. Today it finally felt good again. ”With a big smile, Nick Jäger missed the congratulations of his competitors and teammates. The Penzberger had won gold in the U23 and silver in the men's at the Bavarian Cross Country Championship on the middle distance (4400 meters). With 13:12 minutes he was only one second behind overall winner Hiob Gebisso (LG Augsburg).

“I'm just happy that the shape is back. Since the high altitude training camp over Christmas in Kenya, I simply lacked the energy. But after two weeks of quiet training, I'm finally fresh and relaxed again, ”said Jäger. He had set himself apart from the rest of the field in a leading group of six runners. In the last of four laps Gebisso (24) accelerated the pace on a mountain section, only hunters could follow. On a nearly 30 meter long climb shortly before the goal, the Augsburg player was able to settle five meters. Jäger could no longer close this gap.

TSV Penzberg: anxious waiting for the result list

At the finish the student was waiting for his brother Tom and Markus Brennauer. All three had chances of winning a team medal. Tom Jäger (22) was 14th (13:58) - and was "not at all satisfied" according to a message. Brennauer (40) finished 25th (14:38). Then the speculation started. Because in the team ranking the rankings of the three best runners of a club are added. When the lists were published on the outside wall of the gymnasium in Buttenwiesen, the Penzbergers were very happy - they had won bronze with 41 points. For both Tom Jäger and Brennauer it was the first medal in the men's medium distance.

TSV Penzberg: Brennauer in action twice

Brennauer had won the M40 title two hours earlier. The secondary school teacher prevailed over the 6600 meters with ten seconds ahead of Jürgen Wittmann (TV 1848 Coburg). After three out of six laps, Brennauer was in a top group with five athletes. "Knowing that I would run again, I tried to save energy." At the end of the fourth lap, Yves Brack (DJK Beucherling / M45) increased the pace, only Brennauer and the later winner of the M35, Michael Lang ( SV Amberg), could follow. The Penzberger didn't go to the limit because he knew that he would get gold in his class. With 22:04 minutes he finished fourth overall.

TSV Penzberg: Marvin Bertram surprises the experts

The third gold medal for TSV Penzberg was won by Marvin Bertram in the youth run over 3300 meters. The 18-year-old showed a tactical masterpiece on the partly very muddy circuit and surprised the experts in the audience. "I knew that I was in a good mood, but that I would ultimately win gold, I didn't really expect that," said the high school student. It was above all the way in which he managed to break free from favorite Felix Gramelsberger (SC Ainring) in the last 500 meters, which caused astonishment. At the lowest point on the route, Bertram distanced his opponent with a light-footed step. With 9:59 minutes he was eleven seconds ahead of Gramelsberger and 17 seconds over Justus Kaufmann (MTV 1881 Ingolstadt). The three had separated from the rest of the field halfway. When Bertram blew on the decisive attack, "the other Penzbergers freaked out and cheered on their teammates," said Brennauer.

TSV Penzberg: surprising bronze medal for U-16 trio

The U-16 trio Lorenz Hieber (7:43 minutes / 9th place), Sören Kuschel (8: 04/15th place) and Xaver Wintzingerode (8: 23 / 18th place). The three were tied for third with the LAC Quelle Fürth. In the same race, Annemarie Seevogel finished 14th in the W-15 class (9:47 minutes).

TSV Penzberg: Hugo Mann satisfied even without a medal

That day Hugo Mann was the first Penzberger to go on the track. The 66-year-old Penzberger finished fourth in the M-65 class over 5500 meters. “I just noticed that I had never trained on mud or grass in the past few weeks. Otherwise I would have been able to intervene in the battle for the medals. ”At 22:15 minutes, the marathon specialist was ten seconds short of bronze and 13 seconds short of silver.

For the 800-meter specialist Colin Klein, the 3300 meters in the U-18 class were "clearly too far", says TSV coach Brennauer. Rank 17 in 11:53 minutes still meant a decent result. The same was true for Corinna Braun (15), who finished eleventh with 13:20 minutes.
