The reward will undoubtedly appear very meager in comparison with the defeat of the week in Dortmund (2-1) in the 8th final round of the Champions League. But Neymar inherits a new trophy: that of the best player of the month for January, awarded by the UNFP. With four goals and a decisive pass, the Brazilian PSG was elected with 62% of the vote, ahead of Amiens Abdelhamid and Lyonnais Moussa Dembélé.

Neymar is the second Parisian to be awarded this season after Thiago Silva in October. A trophy awarded by BeIN Sports consultants, captains of Ligue 1 teams and the public. And it is only the second time that the number 10 of PSG has received this trophy, after December 2017.
Kylian Mbappé, for example, has already been awarded four times (twice in Monaco, twice in Paris). The two attackers, however, hold the last two UNFP player of the year trophies in Ligue 1: Neymar for the 2017-2018 season and Mbappé for the 2018-2019 season.
