Bremen (dpa) - Borussia Dortmund has taken revenge for the cup-out at Werder Bremen and further increased the relegation worries of the North Germans.
After initial difficulties, BVB deservedly won 2-0 (0-0) and thus remains on the heels of leaders Bayern Munich. For Bremen, on the other hand, the situation is becoming increasingly dramatic. Due to the success of the competitors, the situation has worsened again.
For the team of coach Florian Kohfeldt it was the ninth defeat in the past ten games and the sixth home defeat in a row. Werder has never lost so many times in a row in the Weser Stadium. In front of 42,100 spectators, Dan-Axel Zagadou (52nd minute) and Erling Haaland (66th) scored the goals for the Dortmund team.
BVB coach Lucien Favre trusted the team that won 2-1 in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday and convinced. Zagadou pushed the ball in the middle across the line. Once again, the Bremen team did not look good with a standard and were again lagging behind.
Haaland could have decided the game a little later, but failed after Guerreiro's pass to Pavlenka. Werder continued to make an effort, but the Hanseates did not succeed in the game forward. Davie Selke, after his yellow card suspension, was unable to stage himself as Milot Rashica. Haaland is completely different on the Dortmund side. After a nice combination via Sancho and Achraf Hakimi, the Norwegian was ice cold in the middle. The game was over.
