Mönchengladbach (dpa) - Coach Alfred Schreuder from 1899 Hoffenheim has considered sending his team off the field in the Bundesliga match against Borussia Mönchengladbach because of the vile posters against Hoffenheim patron Dietmar Hopp.
"I said: If the poster does not disappear, we will go home. Then they can have the three points," said the Dutchman after the 1-1. The posters of Gladbach fans shortly after the break even led to a break in the game by referee Felix Brych.
"Sons of bitches insult a son of a bitch and are punished by sons of bitches," read the north curve. A reaction to the verdict of the Sports Court of the German Football Association (DFB), which Borussia Dortmund had convicted for insulting Hopp to exclude fans from the next two games in Hoffenheim. After folders intervened, the poster disappeared, as did one with a Hopp face in the crosshairs. Gladbach manager Max Eberl and captain Lars Stindl also went into the curve to talk to the fans.
Eberl asked the fans to report the malefactors to the club. "Of course we hope that we can find and exclude these people. And if we don't find them, then maybe others in the fan curve," said Eberl.
"I hope that there is solidarity in the curve. People who identify and say others who did it. We saw in Münster that something like this is possible." At the third division game of Münster against Würzburg, fans had shown the folders to the viewer who had made monkey noises towards the Würzburg player Leroy Kwadwo.
Eberl was looking forward to the first reaction from the fans. "I hope that the people outside don't see the opinion of 30, 40 or 50 idiots as the club's opinion," he said: "But the other fans blew it down. Those are the reactions you want."
When asked how such posters get into the stadium, the manager said. "We will also question ourselves. But the people at the entrance do their best to find such posters. Now it's a bit like robbers and gendarmes. They always find ways to bring such unspeakable posters into the stadium."
