London (dpa) - Arsenal FC made up some ground in the race for a starting place in the European competition.
The team of the former German national soccer player Mesut Özil won in an entertaining game 3-2 (2-2) against Everton and moved past the table neighbors to ninth place.
Eddie Nketiah (27th minute) and former Dortmund player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a double (33th / 46th) ensured the home win for the Londoners on matchday 27. In the final minutes, a shot from Nketiah hit the crossbar. Dominic Calvert-Lewin had shot the guests into the lead after just a minute. Richarlison (45. + 4) was able to equalize Everton in the meantime.
The win reduced Arsenal's gap to fifth place, which entitles them to participate in the Europa League, to four points. Manchester United are fifth after a 3-0 win over Watford FC.
