Schongau - A strong goalkeeper performance, a combative appearance and unusual effectiveness in front of the opposing goal: These three ingredients made EA Schongau's third home success in the relegation round of the Ice Hockey Bayernliga. With the surprisingly clear 6-1 win against the favorite ESC Geretsried, the “Mammuts” kept the chance to escape the playdowns alive.
"We now have more quality on the ice on the offensive," said EAS coach Andreas Leschinger. Because Jakub Muzik's return, EAS was able to play with two foreigners in the relegation round for the first time. This had a positive effect on the opportunity utilization. Even due to the lack of four regular defenders at the start of the game, the Schongauer could not be put off track. Daniel Holzmann only joined in the second third. "The team has an insane mentality," said Leschinger. For a short time, he had ordered striker Tobias Findl on the defensive. There was a special praise for Jonas Lautenbacher. The striker has been helping in the defense for three weeks and always delivers sovereign performances there. As a reward, he was allowed to appear as a captain. "Performance brings responsibility," says Leschinger. He also tolerated no contradiction from Lautenbacher, who, as a rather quiet contemporary, is reluctant to take center stage.
Encounter picks up speed in the second third
The game, which is important for both teams, started briskly with opportunities over and over. Both goalkeepers could not be overcome. David Hrazdira (8th, 14th) awarded twice for the guests. On the other side, Muzik (13th) and Simon Maucher (15th) failed.
After the third overpayment game, a nice individual performance by Ronald Dvonc (29th) gave the lead to EAS.
