“Augsburg put a lot of pressure in the first 20 minutes, they pressed very high. We knew that and were pretty well prepared for it, ”said FCP coach Fabian Hürzeler after the game. What the coach should not have liked was the way the first goal was scored because he fell out of a counterattack. The FCP defense was once again moved too far, so there were open spaces that the host made optimal use of.
The youngsters of the Bundesliga club had additional chances in the starting phase, which were either miserably missed or defused by guest keeper Johann Hipper.
After 20 minutes, the team from the Dachau hinterland took command - and consequently they came to the equalizer.
After the break, the 50 spectators saw a similar picture as in the first section: At first, the Fuggerstädter took command, but then Pipinsried found the game better. However, the FCP ran out of steam with increasing playing time, FCA coach Josef Steinberger had brought in a lot of fresh forces during the game. The Bundesliga reserve had the staying power and came back two more at the end of the game.
“Overall, it was a very good test for us. We have seen where there is still a shortage and will work accordingly in training, ”summed up FCP trainer Fabian Hürzeler.
