The negative series was too long: the sharks separate from trainer Mike Stewart. For this, a native of Cologne comes back to the DEL.
Cologne (dpa) - After their defeat series, the Kölner Haie separated from head coach Mike Stewart and signed ex-national coach Uwe Krupp. This was announced by the club from the German Ice Hockey League.
The 54-year-old Krupp will stand behind the gang against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg on Tuesday. Krupp most recently worked for Sparta Prague and signed a contract with the sharks until April 2022. The Cologne team had last suffered their 17th defeat in a row in Bremerhaven. Should Krupp lose on his debut on Tuesday, the Haie would then set the negative record of the DEL with 18 losses in a row, which the Schwenninger Wild Wings and the former first division team Freiburg currently hold.
