Gelsenkirchen / Cologne - On Saturday (February 29, 6:30 p.m.) FC Schalke 04 will be guest at 1. FC Köln for the 24th Bundesliga matchday . Curious: The S04 is currently even an outsider in this game, as RUHR24.de * reports.

1. FC Köln - FC Schalke 04: S04 are outsiders against the club of Mark Uth

"There are two worlds coming together now. Some fly without end, the others really got one on Dec," said coach David Wagner (48) after FC Schalke 04's 5-0 clap against RB Leipzig.

1. FC Köln won six of their eight previous Bundesliga games. Only against BVB and FC Bayern were two (bitter) bankruptcies. That FC is otherwise so strong in 2020 is mainly due to Mark Uth (28).

The attacking player scored three goals and two assists in the five Bundesliga games this year. The 28-year-old was in the starting eleven of 1. FC Köln in each of the games , was directly or indirectly involved in a goal in every game and missed only 23 minutes in total.

Against the S04 , which has not won any of the last five Bundesliga games and has only managed to score one goal, the one-time German international has to pause involuntarily. The reason for this is a blocking clause in Mark Uth's contract, which 1. FC Köln had to install because of FC Schalke 04 *.

On Monday , February 24th, the offensive player followed up with Sport1 (see video). "I would have been very happy to play against the old boys in particular. But the clause is in there, it's how it is."

Mark Uth (1. FC Köln): Jörg Schmadtke cannot understand the blocking clause of the S04

"But it's a shame for me and for the soccer players in general. We just want to play soccer. We want to do our job. And if we can't do that, I think it's a shame."

Jörg Schmadtke (55), Managing Director Sport at VfL Wolfsburg , recently hit a similar notch in an interview with the kicker . If you have a problem with a player being able to play all the games, "you have to ask yourself: why did you give this player away at all?"

"We had one condition: that he doesn't play against us. We play in Cologne and you have already experienced everything in football," continued the sporting director of the Royal Blues .

Especially against the background that all sides had to agree to the transfer. "You could have said that it was not competitive or had nothing to do with fair play. Then we could have left it and FC could have got a player who could play against Schalke. That would have been legitimate," said the royal blue Sport Board.

1. FC Köln refrained from complaining . At least until the negotiations are closed.
