Düsseldorf (AP) - Former Bundesliga referee Babak Rafati has called for an immediate abandonment of the game in the event of racism and discrimination.
At the moment, the Bundesliga referees should proceed according to a three-point plan and interrupt the game and make an exclamation. "So the plan has no effect. The fact that insulting twice is practically free must be abolished," said the 49-year-old from Düsseldorf's "Rheinische Post". "We have to leave out the first two levels completely and then stop the game immediately!"
The former Bundesliga and FIFA referee hopes that this rigorous act will make the perpetrators even more responsible. "If an individual or a group expresses itself in a discriminatory or racist manner and the game is interrupted as a result, not only the victim will be harmed, but also the teams and all other spectators in the stadium and wants force from several thousand angry people, "said Rafati.
