Corona virus in northern Italy? The TSV Neuried district league soccer players cannot be stopped. A team of 17 went to the training camp on Lake Garda.
Neuried - On Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. the TSV Neuried footballers made their way. There were hours of deliberation behind the split team. The question that had been in the room: Should the district league go to the training camp in Arco on Lake Garda or not, despite the rampant corona virus in northern Italy?

"I can understand both sides, but from the start I said: I would drive," said coach Josip Hrgovic. So he and assistant coach Florian Adam left the decision to the team, which took its time, but was still late. Only two players were too risky, they stayed at home.
Hrgovic has been working intensively on a possible cancellation of the training camp since Monday. “I made as many calls over the three days as I did in a month. I was a regular customer at the Federal Foreign Office, ”says Hrgovic with a laugh. Three different sources independently assured him that there was no immediate danger when he started the trip.

So far they have been right. "Everything is OK here. We didn't see anyone with a mask, we didn't notice anything, ”said Hrgovic by telephone after the first training session from Italy. But the two coaches and their 15 players present remain vigilant until Sunday. "If a warning comes from the office or from the training camp organizer, it means departure," says Hrgovic.
The - ideally - four days on Lake Garda represent the final sprint in the winter preparation of the TSV. The footballers have been maloching since the beginning of February. In the first half of the season, the Neurieder women sold well below value. With seven points from nine games, the young team is in the middle of the struggle for relegation and is only one point ahead of the first relegation zone.
For comparison: Co-promoters TSV Murnau is currently second in the table with serious chances of a direct march into the state league. Unlike the newly strengthened team from the Blue Land, the new girls have almost the same squad as in the previous season. Tenth place is still far too little.
TSV Neuried conceded many unnecessary defeats in the first half of the season
Coach Hrgovic sums up: “If you lose a game unfortunate, it happens, and then it is absolutely normal. But when almost every game is lost unfortunate, there has to be a reason. ”Only rarely was his team really inferior in the first half of the season.
An indication of this is that the TSV women hardly lost a game, but mostly only in the final phase. "We almost always had the chance to decide the game early," says Hrgovic. But this requires a consistent exploitation of opportunities. However, this was usually poor.
Therefore, in the second half of the year, the focus should be on calm in front of the goal. Neuried's attackers are said to be more cold-nosed. Another focus of the preparation is on defense. "We have to be much more consistent in the defensive game and together iron out the mistakes of the individual," explains the coach. Before the winter break, it was often just an inattention that decided an entire game.
Preparation for the BOL second half is going well in Neuried
Due to the running-intensive style of play that Hrgovic wants to see from his young team, fitness training should not be neglected in winter either. “At the beginning of the first half of the season, our fitness level was not good enough for this league. We need to have this better under control this time, ”said the trainer. Therefore, this time he attaches more importance to fitness.
The results in the preparatory games are encouraging: There was a 1-1 against ESV Freimann, a 2-0 against SV Dornach and a 1-0 against TSV Eching. In the recent test against the low district league leaders from Eching, the Würmtaler came up with too little. In the end it was short and lackluster.
The goal of the women of TSV Neuried remains relegation
Now that his team has got used to the tougher gait in the district's top league, Hrgovic's claim is now to act in a significantly more disciplined manner and to find a middle ground between offensive and defensive. The coach is in good spirits: “I don't see a team in the league that is really superior to us. So we want to be able to get out of it quickly from below and, if possible, end the season without pressure. ”
With the brave way of playing the TSV, everything in the league seems possible. "Nevertheless, we only focus on relegation. Anything else would be negligent, ”says Hrgovic. To ensure the league remains as fast as possible, an increase in performance compared to the first half of the season is needed, which should undoubtedly be feasible for the talented team from Neuried.
