At the district championships in St. Jakob it happened. Maxi Widl is district master again and Sophie Linsmayer drives away from all women.

Erding / St. Jakob– The district championships were held this year on a slope on which only the locals were allowed to compete. This was revealed by Martin Walter, the chief organizer of the Erding Ski Club, this year's organizer. And he also tells how it came about: “Actually, the championships should be held in Hochfilzen. But there was obviously something wrong with the booking on the part of the Austrians. ”

So Walter went to the manager. “And because we have been regular customers in St. Jakob for almost 40 years, we were exceptionally allowed to take the special black run, the most beautiful slope ever. That meant a bit more work for the helpers (Walter: "We had to lay the timing cables ourselves"), but it was worth it. "We were able to offer the drivers a challenging slope that, thanks to the weather, offered fair conditions even to the last driver," explains Walter. In the morning minus 10 degrees, at noon 0 degrees - "the slope just stops there", says Wagner and raves about the imperial weather.

In the end, the best won out. FC Lengdorf's Maxi Widl defended his title from last year by almost a second ahead of Johannes Denteler from Auerbach. The third usual title contender, Felix Fischer, was not at the start this time. This also applies to Franziska Widl, who only attended the Kreiscup the next day. The fastest woman was Jana Farska from SC Auerbach "with a great time," said Walter. Which is no wonder, because Farska used to race in Slovakia, but is now only on the slopes when her son Matej drives. Incidentally, this won the U 8 competition. Also outstanding was the performance of Alexandra Fimpel, who won the U 8 / U 10 and U12 competition and was even faster than the best male U 12 drivers. This was in line with the overall result of the Erding Ski Club, which, despite relatively few training units, did a great job in the individual competitions.

The Dorfen Ski Club can also be proud of the fact that, with Sophie Linsmayer, the district master. The U 16 driver not only won her age group, but was even faster than Jana Farska (1: 30.85) with a total time of 1: 29.76 min.

A total of 114 participants started. Tobias Wagner, who was also responsible for timing, had set up the first giant slalom. Martin Walter set the second run. 107 drivers crossed the finish line. There were seven failures, but no injuries, as Walter emphasizes.

An hour after the last runner, everyone celebrated the award ceremony together. The young participants accepted their certificates and trophies with radiant faces. For the first time, there were non-cash prizes for adults. "They already have enough trophies in their closets," says Walter. So Widl and Co. were able to enjoy gselchts, cheese and other delicacies.

The district championship, which the district supported with a sum of money, was the first race of this year's circular cup series, which consists of four competitions. All six ski sports clubs from the district (Hörlkofen, Lengdorf, Dorfen Buch, Auerbach and Erding) take part.
