History:

Four game days before the end of the championship round, the teams in table positions one to five moved together to six points. The Starbulls Rosenheim in third place have the chance on Friday evening to go past the Memmingen Indians with an away win after regular time, who have been at the top of the table for exactly three months continuously. If the green-whites in Memmingen go empty-handed, on the other hand, there is a risk of slipping to fifth place in the table. SC Riessersee lurks there, who has won the last six games in a row - including against the top teams Memmingen, Deggendorf and Regensburg - and is clearly favored in the home game against Peiting on Friday evening.

"The game on Friday in Memmingen is our first final this season," says John Sicinski in plain language. With the defeat in Füssen, his team carelessly threw away the chance of being able to climb the first place in the table on their own. Two days after the convincing 4: 1 home win against Regensburg, the frustration with the Starbulls head coach was suddenly very deep: "We did not work as hard against feet and showed not as much ambition as the opponent.

And then you can't win either. Once again the team tried things in an away game and made mistakes that do not happen in the home games. It is a matter of the head. We talked a lot about it, but we have to check it off. We have something to do on Friday and are fully focused on this away game and this opponent until the final siren in Memmingen. My team has character and can therefore win in Memmingen! "

The fact that the opponent is also under a lot of pressure gives the top game against the third in the table on Friday evening additional piquancy. At the end of November the ECDC Memmingen Indians took the lead in the standings and had exactly three months. At the beginning of November, the lead over second place in the table was a whopping ten points. After the last six defeats en suite - two of them after extra time or a shootout - there is now a threat not only of saying goodbye to first place, but also of falling out of the first four table ranks and thus losing home rights in the playoff round of 16.

For many weeks, the Indians trained by trainer Sergej Waßmiller remarkably understood how to compensate for failures of top performers and win tight games. In the most recent games, this was possible, partly because a flu wave weakened the team, but then no longer.

Due to several long-term injuries in the course of the season, the Indians made heavy additional commitments (Linus Svedlund, Julian Straub, Tim Richter, Steven Deeg, Jannik Herm) and thus were not able to significantly increase the squad width, but did improve the quality of the squad. Against the Starbulls on Friday, the team can now compete so fitly and completely - from the "adjusted" squad only Herm, who is injured by the hand, is missing - for a long time.

The Starbulls lost the first duel of the season in Memminger Stadion am Hühnerberg 0: 4 at the end of October - it was the only game of the current season in which the Rosenheim team remained without a goal.
