Coronavirus: Ligue 1 matches maintained ... with a special device

2020-02-29T15:51:20.975Z

THE SCAN SPORT - If the Ligue 1 matches this weekend are, for the moment, maintained, a special device will be put in place.

The weekend’s Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 matches are “maintained at the moment,” the Professional Football League (LFP) confirmed to AFP on Saturday shortly before 4 p.m., following government announcements against the intensification of the epidemic caused by the new coronavirus. "We are in constant contact with the authorities," said the LFP, indicating that the weekend meetings, starting with that of Paris SG against Dijon scheduled for Saturday at 5.30 pm at the Parc des Princes, were "maintained at actual hour".

Note that special arrangements will be made around Ligue 1 matches anyway, as indicated by our colleagues from RTL and Canal +. For example during PSG-Dijon this Saturday. Namely the absence of handshakes during the pre-match protocol between the coaches, but also a special device for journalists. None of them will be able to sit in the front row of the press room for the post-match conference.

Sunday, the flagship match of the football weekend normally takes place in the evening in Lyon, where more than 60,000 people are expected for the derby against Saint-Etienne. Health Minister Olivier Véran announced on Saturday that the weekend’s Ligue 1 matches were not affected by the measures taken by the government, which ordered the cancellation of all “rallies of more than 5,000 people” in a closed environment and certain outdoor events, such as the Paris half-marathon scheduled for Sunday.
